1953 to 1961 - Clan Line Steamers. Last ship Umtata, later named Klipbok.

1960 - Obtained Masters Certificate.

1961 to 1964 - Teacher Training College, Manchester.

1964 - Obtained Teacher's Certificate.

1964 to 1968 - Teaching primary school children, Liverpool.

1968 to 1994 - Teaching in comprehensive school, Jersey, Channel Islands/ Nautical studies and mathematics. Part time lecturer, navigation evening classes.

1972 - Open University degree B.A.

1973 - Mate on square rigger Regina Maris.

1974 to 1984 - Chairman Nautical Studies Southern Examining Group, England.

1973 - Mate on square rigger Regina Maris.

1984 - VHF Examiner.

1992 - Took part in first race Jersey to San Sebastian, Spain, to celebrate the traditional skills of ocean navigation.

1993 - Channel Islands Triathlon Supervet Champion.

1994 - Fell off bike, retired from racing.
